Dolorosa Sinaga
Dolorosa Sinaga was born on October 31,1952 in Sibolga, Batak province, Indonesia. She graduated from «The Jakarta Arts Institute» in 1977 and then continued her studies in art, sculpture and bronze casting in London, England at the «Martin’s School of Art», at the «San Francisco Art Institute» and at the University of Maryland in the USA.
One of her main intentions it to describe female experiences and the condition of women. Many of her sculptures portray the female body.
Her subjects are faith, hope, illusion, crisis, solidarity, multicultural tensions and the fight of women against violence. She received numerous awards for her work, in Indonesia and in the year 2000 she became a member of the rectorate of the»Institut Kesenian”.
