Mauro Berrettini

Mauro Berrettini was born in Buonconvento (Siena), Italy on 17 August 1943. He began studying drawing and sculpture from his father, Giordano, a scapular artisan with his own workshop in Siena. Mauro graduated from the Istituto d’arte di Siena, and the Liceo Artistico di Carrara. After teaching Artistic Education in state schools, he devoted several years solely to sculpture, his main interest being urban space where he created numerous installations mainly monumental. Several of his pieces were acquired for public display, as well as museums and private collections, among them the Contemporary art museum, San Gimignano; Musée Calvet, Avignon (France); Museum of modern art in Aquila’s 15th century castle; Mine (Japan).
