Kemal Tufan
Kemal Tufan was born on May 21, 1962 in Silivri, Istanbul, Turkey. In 1985 he graduated from the “Industrial Engineering Department” of the “Technical University of Istanbul” and in 1994 he graduated from the “Sculpture Department” of the “Mimar Sinan University” in Istanbul. From 1989 to 1991 Kemal has participated in modern dance and Turkish folk dance groups as choreographer, decorator and folk dancer.
Since 1993 he attended many international sculpture symposiums and biennales all over the world and created large outdoor sculptures in Turkey, Finland, Romania, Holland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Portugal, China, Argentina, Sweden, Korea, Brazil, Chile, Egypt, Bahrain, Germany, Italy and many other countries. For his work he uses natural materials such as stone, marble, granite, wood and metal. Since 2000 he also started making videos and performances. Kemal Tufan is the curator of Yesemek Bienal (2005-2007) and Buyukcekmece (Istanbul) International Sculpture Symposiums since 2002.
